Jag är Guds lilla barn (sång) - I am a child of God (song)

http://youtu.be/JOrcqqpHCt8

My baby smiles a big smile every time we watch this song on YouTube. It is without doubt his favorite. I like it, too.

Babyn blir jätteglad varje gång han får lyssna på den här sången på YouTube. Den är absolut hans favorit sång.  Jag tycker ochså om den. :)

Small moments make eternity like droplets make the sea

A few photos:

We went with AJ on his third grade walking field trip to the grocery store, the funeral home, the post office, etc.

Bath time is always hilarious.  The baby now likes to drink soapy bath water like a puppy.

My boys

So cute

Here's AJ, NOT brushing his teeth

Baby 13 months old

The beautiful princess eating cookies

This helmet is the baby's Halloween costume-- if he keeps it on.  I also want to make him a little vest and a spear

I am trying to find fun toys without spending money.  This was a bucket of pinto beans and a ladle.
It is not too hard to clean up.

More cookies, please.

Baby Time

If there is anything this baby would rather be trying to eat than a dalarhast, I don't know what it is.
This is the same dalarhast my other kids used to chew on.
We were checking out the snowfall today.

And playing with the flying angel frog.
The flying angel frog is much more amusing when I play with him for the baby to watch.

I love photography and babies together.

A Thousand Words Are Worth a Picture

Today my computer won't let me upload any pictures, so the cute pinewood derby photos (A.J.'s first pinewood derby!) and the cute flute-concert-at-B.Y.U photos of C.E. and the rest will have to wait.  I guess I will write a few thoughts instead.

Is there anyone out there who isn't in a state of almost constant overwhelmed-ness when they have a baby in the house?  I am constantly practicing the art of "inspired neglect"; that is: not doing my chores.  And it makes me nuts to step over a sticky kitchen floor, mountains of clean but not put away laundry, a cluttered counter, a cluttered table, a floor that needs vacuuming again and again and again now that he rolls so much and can get a big hairball in his sweet little face!

Why am I so behind, every day, always?  Because a) I am too tired and now that he's asleep, I have to sleep; b) the baby would rather that I do not do my chores because he needs to: play/ needs a diaper change  / a bath / a feeding / a tickling / a massage / playtime, or c) yes, he is asleep, and I could do my chores, but I need a mental vacation!  So I work on my blog or call my sisters, friends or mom on the phone or go visiting teaching or play on facebook or pinterest or read the news or scriptures or email.  These things are so much more fun than chores.

But how I love a clean house!

One night, I stayed up, unbelievably, until 2:00 a.m. doing nothing but playing on "pinterest" and left the dishes undone, to be miserably faced in the morning on no sleep and the baby on my hip.  Pinterest is a really silly waste of good time.  But harmless.

What isn't harmless is t.v.  Yuck!  We haven't had t.v. for several years, and haven't missed it.  We rent movies or documentaries from Netflix sometimes, but mostly we just don't have time.  Between the kids' activities and church work and family get-togethers and household chores, who has time for t.v.?!!

But my dear sister's husband gave my husband antennae recently, which are making it possible for us to pick up several t.v. channels now, for the first time in ages.  We saw bits of "Secret Millionaire," which is a noble program with a millionaire going undercover to find out who he wants to bless with lots of money at the end of his investigation.  We saw bits of "Wipeout" which is a funny, good-natured, harmless family sport. We saw some news.  But we also saw pieces of "Seinfeld," a show I once found funny and now I find it insensitive and mean-spirited.  And we saw just the commercials for (never mind the real thing) several shows that made me shake my head in disbelief.

Then there was the Rascal Flatts concert on t.v., with silhouettes of women dancing seductively in the background.  Am I the only woman who finds this not only insulting but also prejudiced?  What do the producers think we'll enjoy about that? Are they all male?  Are they unaware that sexuality is supposed to be an intimate secret between one man and one woman, married?!  Talk about insensitive and ignoble.

I don't want to be what the Hollywood mentality would turn me into.  That's why I almost never watch t.v. and I've quit PG-13 movies, now. Lots of t.v. shows/movies/radio shows give me the same icky feeling I get while standing in line at the grocery store,  faced with the covers of the tabloids, all bad manners, voyeurism and disrespect.

Well, I helped my friend write what we think is a very important letter.  We tried to keep it short but it ended up being five pages long.  I will ask her if it's ok to post it here.

Now the baby's awake, and calling me from his crib. I need milk and eggs, so I think we'll go for a walk in his pram to the grocery store.  I'll spend less money if I don't have the car to lug things home today.  :)

Me at Baby H's Age

Here's me at Baby H.'s age, six months.  I love that there is photography in this world.  Forty one years ago, the moment is captured, the baby is captured!  Me! Any resemblance to Baby H.?

Valentine's Day Weekend

It was unseasonably warm on Sunday, so C.E. and the baby and I took a nice, long walk to the swing by the canal.  Here are some pictures.

What a beautiful, happy afternoon.  C.E. tells me I take too many pictures, and that I should just enjoy the present and not prepare so much for the future.  (She's heard me saying that when I'm old and they don't have time to call me, I'll look at all the photos and bask in the days when they were young.)

But I disagree.  Photos are sacred to me now.  I love capturing these beautiful moments of our lives and I hope to live on them for a long, long time!  Life is beautiful.  Despite the chaos and the worries that swirl around our ankles!

Also, on Saturday night, D.H. took me on a Valentine's Date to the theater.  We saw "A Night of Broadway" and the funniest part was that the baby enjoyed it so much.  He did his inhaling gasps of delight over and over, kicked his legs, waved his arms, stared and stared.  His favorites were "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "The Music of the Night" and "Welcome to the 60's."  The theater has a wonderful, glassed-off cry-room in the back, which we ended up in --not that he was crying, but that he was making such loud, happy commentary about the show.

Baby Massage Class # 3

This little piggy went to a very wonderful baby massage class today.
Cold-pressed avocado oil is what the baby massage coach recommended.

I love my life.

Monday Morning

Some of this weekend's photos:  here's Baby H., ready for church.
The deer, Saturday:
I think they are kissing.
Then we had cousins over, to eat and play a game called scum.
The orchid my mother gave me for my birthday in September came back to life!
We got to babysit some friends' kids yesterday.  Here's Baby H and D.H. with the cute visitors, playing with hexbugs.

Baby Massage Class

Post of the Day:  Baby H. and I have been recruited to baby massage school for 5 weeks.  Yay!  This is going to be fun  (And free!)

At Home

Post of the Day:

There's so much to do.  And it's all good.  I have been helping my daughter with her science fair blog.  Fascinating.  (I will put the link here when we're ready.) The picture below is an example of what we did.  Can you tell where that shirt is from?  Maybe I should do a poll here, too!  Well, her science (psychological science) experiment is based on her blog.  That blog is an 18-question poll, accompanied by 18 photographs of clothing which we photographed at Nordstrom and at D.I., with a generic (baby blanket) backdrop and no identifying labels.  The poll asks respondents (who must be female consumers between the ages of 13-45) whether they think the clothing is found at Nordstrom or D.I.  I can't wait to see the results!

The sun is bright and happy.  The snow is bright and happy.  I am happy.  The house is neither immaculate nor horrible.  (Well, except for the inside of the refrigerator and the garage, which are horrible).  There's a mountain of unfolded laundry on the couch.  There's a dalarhast in my kitchen windowsill.  Of course.  The baby is sleeping in his crib.

I am so madly in love with that baby.  He is over 19 pounds at four months of age, which puts him in the 100th percentile on weight, and in the 90s for height and head circumference.  (I explained this to his 8 year old brother:  if you put 100 4-month-old babies in a room, your baby brother is the fattest one.) In other words, he is the size of a one to one-and-a-half year old.  He wears 12-18 month clothes, but he's so very, very much younger in his mannerisms and facial expressions.  I am going to list a top ten of things I noticed about him today:

1.  A drop of white milk on his chubby, bright pink cheek when he woke up.
2.  Toothless gums, adorably innocent and perfect, in his wide open, laughing mouth.
3.  His little tongue, as it works to express who knows what, and blowing bubbles at the same time.
4.  His hands, always opening, closing, touching, reaching.  He grabs my hair 100x a day.
5.  Putting my finger in his palm while he is nursing.  It's holding hands, the best we can.
6.  Slathering baby oil all over his legs, tummy, and neck when I change his diaper.  He laughs because it tickles.  So then I rub his legs more and get him to laugh and laugh.
7.  Putting him high over my head, and poking his tummy with my chin.  This makes him laugh every time.
8.  His voice.  He makes tones, sometimes on the in-breath, usually on the out.  He razzes.  He has so many sounds that I can't explain them all.  He even has one that sounds like he is exaggerating.  When he makes that one, I laugh at him and kiss him and he knocks it off.  It's so real, this beginner talking of his!  At least, to me.  I encourage it by narrating to him almost all day long, narrating or singing.
9.  He loves to read.  At least, when he's done nursing, he looks at my pictureless book pages, fascinated, trying to pull them, fingering the paper.  He has no limit to how long this interests him, except if he wants to eat more.  He also loves the mobile that hangs over his crib-- 5 animals go in a circle while the mobile plinks out "Brahm's Lullabye" --he squawks for it to start up when it stops.  I wind and wind.  Usually by the third time, he either falls asleep or he's mad and wants to get out of the crib.
10. His beautiful, infinitely beautiful, bright, living blue eyes.
